Cautiosly Optimistic about COVID

Dear Church Family,
After the Trustees/De-escalation Team and Leadership conversations of St. Matthew’s UMC, we have set a goal to share the Lord’s Table (communion) in the sanctuary together on March 6th.  With some restrictions being lifted by the State of California and Ventura County, we can take care of each other in the coming weeks- so our doors can swing wide-open on that Sunday. We will resume Coffee Fellowship as soon as possible.
In the meantime, here is what I am going to do:I am going to wear a mask inside when I feel it protects others or myself. I am going to respect your choice to wear a mask or not wear a mask.I will continue to be in the sanctuary Sundays for Worship to greet, preach, and pray with you. The Worship Service will be available on Facebook Live at 10:00 am on Sunday. A recording will be posted to YouTube and on our website on Monday afternoon. We are going to let the leaders of our smaller groups determine the best way to meet going forward. I am going to follow my heart and take care of me and you to the best of my ability.
The church was instructed in 1 Peter 3:8,“Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.”
Praise the Lord we can be together for all these gatherings! May God bless the plans we make… as we trust for God to give us peace for the journey ahead,
Pastor Jim
